A mid-week update whilst I’m on reservist, taken over the National Day weekend.

Heading in for my Annual In-Camp Training again. Like clockwork, I receive my call-up for this time of the year, pack my gear (which I have not), use the exact same image I’m using for this post as I have for the past 3 years and disappear for a week or so.

So I’ll be away from the 10th to 22nd, so do pardon me if I do that a while to reply emails and such.

“…here we go again…same old sh…again”

Poke-poke-poke-poke-poke-poke-poke..poker face – This is how a Facebook ‘poke’ looks for real.

I turned a year older over the weekend and my sister baked me this cake. I was truly wowed.

“This cake was made specially for my kid brother. He just turned 33, no longer a kid by all accounts but to me he’ll always be my rascally little bro.

Though we are 7 years apart, growing up he was my ally at home, getting up to mischief together when we were supposed to be studying. Catching smelly beetles and irritating our elder sis. He was also my “umbrella life-saver”-I would give him $1 to shelter me to the bus-stop on rainy days because carrying an umbrella to town when you’re on a date would be just too ‘unglam’.

Through the years, I’ve seen him grow into a wonderful person and I’m really proud of him, of the person he’s become and how he works real hard to achieve his goals.
So for this years cake, I wanted it to not only represent some aspect of him but to bring a big smile to his face.

So to a Star Wars fan, an amazing photographer,my umbrella life-saver and most importantly an all time great brother – HAPPY 33RD BIRTHDAY!”

This wedding was shot with Plush Photography.

Phyllis is an old school mate of mine from our days in the NCC during secondary school. We hung out in the same circle of friends who jammed under void decks, smoked cigarettes in playgrounds and bought cans of beer to head down to East Coast Park. Somewhere along the way, the circle disbanded and we all lost touch after our days in Poly. Which was when Phyllis joined Singapore Airlines and met her man Kenneth.

As the stars would align it all, that circle of friends started getting together again for long chats over beer, pizza and whiskey at Timbre and St James. And at one of our night outs that Phyllis asks if I would photograph her wedding. The rest as they say is history.

Everyone wants to take a peek at the bride.

While some are a little more shy than others.

The reason why a Bridesmaid is called a Bridesmaid – to serve the bride.

Always on top of things, Phyllis gives a final briefing to all.

‘I take picture’.

Kenneth was instructed to kiss the bride’s ass. That doesn’t look like it.

Kenken Kebare. Here’s a shot as we were gearing up to dive at Manta Point, Nusa Penida. Caught a total of about 6-8 rays over two mornings, the sight of seeing them fly towards, by and away is amazing. A few more ’sneak pic’ shots are on my posterous site at dazza.posterous.com/submerged-in-bali.

I mean what more do I say with a post title like that?

Its the break we’ve been looking forward to – to catch some sun, sand and sea – and we’re taking it today. And while most of my peers might head there for work, I made it a point this trip not to organize any bookings for overseas shoots in Bali. And I’m unabashed to say that it was because I wanted time away from work related photography, time away from emails, time away from facebook, time away from twitter, time away from MSN, time away from google, time away from time…and to just have time for me, you and us.

So I’ll be away till the 23rd and am looking forward to a self prescribed dose of limited access to the Internet, which is why I will be slow responding to email and phone calls. I promise I will respond to all messages the quicker-est, faster-est that I am able to when I return.

In the meantime, live long and prosper \V/.
